The LTD model serves as the flagship of the double-cab P Series range, slotting above the LS and LT models, respectively. The P-Series double-cab range starts from R515 950.
It is made unique aesthetically with 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels (with all-terrain tyres), black roof rail, a black sport bar, plastic bedliner, off-road steel front and rear bumpers and off-road wheel arches, a specifically developed snorkel, a front winch, a 12-Volt accessory connector in the engine bay and a 120Watt 220V located next to the rear USB port. Conrad Groenewald, chief operations officer of GWM South Africa, says: "The LTD is a natural progression for GWM given the growing demand from business users and private buyers alike for double cab bakkies. From the outset, we carefully planned the derivative spread in both single and double cab configurations to provide the best possible solution across the pickup user spectrum, and the LTD takes this to a new level."
Same power, better value
Things under the bonnet remain unchanged. It is still powered by the brand's 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine with outputs of 120kW and 400Nm. Power is sent to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Drivers can toggle between 4x4 driving modes, including 2H, 4H, Snow, Mud, Sand and 4L.
In addition to the usual ABS with EBD, the bakkie comes standard with airbags (front, side, curtain), rollover mitigation, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring, offroad cruise control, trail turn assist and offroad thermal management.
Other features include a 7-inch virtual instrument cluster, a 9-inch info touchscreen (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth capable), wireless charging, and two USB ports in the front and one for the passengers.
The LTD is priced at R694 950 and comes standard with a five-year or 100 000km mechanical warranty, a service plan for the same period and five-year unlimited mileage roadside assistance.
