Kraus is a relative newcomer to the faucet industry, but the company has diligently worked its way in among the established competitors. Kraus faucets often exhibit an industrial style, and the brand has been recognized as a top designer for commercial faucets.

The price makes Kraus faucets attractive, too. Most faucets run less than $300. Having a more commercial style design can mean the faucet needs a little more room, though, because larger faucets could be taller than expected.

For a brand that has excellent design, Grohe looms as a big player. Grohe has won more than 240 design and innovation awards in the last 10 years and boasts a wide selection of faucets. Those innovations and design quality comes with a price, and Grohe faucets tend to be pricey. Since Grohe uses high quality material and design, repairs tend to run expensive, too.

Check the flow rate for certain models because some customers have complained about a low flow rate with some models.

Delta has a long established reputation for producing faucets filled with technological advances, like a LED light to indicate water temperatures or the Leland Single-Hand Touch that allows you to turn on the water with a forearm while carrying a load of dirty dishes. No matter what you’re looking for functionally and style-wise, Delta’s sure to have something for it. Delta also provides a variety of price points for customers.

Some models have issues like occasional leaks, and some customers have disliked the plastic parts used in the faucet.

Pfister is an innovative faucet company that continues to focus on design details to create elegant and functional faucets. Over the years, Pfister has grown to include more affordable models that are easy to install. Some of the designs are stunning, while the sprayers pack a punch.

Beware that longer sprayers can take up more room below the sink, and when the faucet sits higher up, it can lead to splashing issues. Some customers report difficulty in getting replacement parts and dealing with customer service.

American Standard is known for quality faucets and functionality options, like an adjustable limit on the hot water and a memory device to remember the setting, which is great news for any parentwho fear their children might get scalded accidentally. American Standard faucets typically have straightforward installation steps.

They come in a variety of moderate price points and have a reputation to last a long time. American Standard faucets won’t blow you away with ornate design, but they’ll fit in perfectly with most kitchens. Like with other sprayers, American Standards’ sprayer holes can clog up periodically, but routine maintenance can alleviate that.

Danze’s designs have established the company in the faucet market, and it does have some of the most unique faucets available. From industrial looks to vintage ones , Danze faucets stand out. They also come moderately priced, though they do cost more than other affordable choices. The interesting style makes it a worthwhile choice. Danze faucets have become known for their durability.

They also have six finish options: chrome, tumbled bronze, satin black, stainless steel, brushed nickel and chrome/red.

Kohler’s long been a leader in the faucet industry, and one of the reasons the brand retains that position is beause of its commitment to developing technology. Those who have the Kohler Sweep Sprayer, for example, love it because of the way it can clear a sink of refuse. Customers also like the high temperature limit and temperature setting memory features on other models. Kohler routinely excels at top functionality and technology.

For a company that’s existed for more than 100 years, Elkay continues to keep customers interested with innovative designs and attractive features. Elkay’s designs range from vintage to futuristic. Those designs come in just three finishes, which shouldn’t be a deal breaker. Some sprayer models have 1.5 GPM and 2.2 GPM flow rate options. Elkay faucets come at a variety of price points but the faucets with more design elements tend to cost more.

You’ll be hard pressed to find any better looking faucets than Waterstone’s designs. Waterstone incorporates elements of European styles and vintage looks while coming up with some completely one-of-a-kind faucets. Some of those creative styles include wheel pulldown faucets and gantry pulldown faucets that you’ve got to see to believe. Such creativity is going to cost you. Waterstone faucets cost between $700 up to nearly $9,000. Waterstone also offers 33 different finishes to further solidify itself as a company that creates custom faucets.

There are four types of faucets: ball, disc, cartridge and compression. Outside of their mechanical setups, faucets come in two handle, single handle and pulldown styles.

A ball faucet has a single handle equipped with either a plastic or metal to allow the handle to move and control the flow and temperature of the water. These faucets have spring-loaded rubber seals that can dry out over time and lead to leaks.

Ceramic disc faucets have more of a modern look with a handle positioned on the side. Ceramic disc faucets use a pressure balance cartridge to mix hot and cold water. The two discs inside the faucet control the flow, and the temperature is regulated by moving the handle side to side. Ceramic disc faucets have a reputation of being more reliable and less prone to leaks than ball faucets.

Compression faucets are called so because when they are in the off position, a washer forms a seal to prevent water from flowing. When in the on position a stem raises up to break the seal and allow water to flow. Compression faucets are some of the oldest and common faucets available, which makes them more affordable. They are easy to repair but are more likely to leak over time because the washer tends to wear out.

Double handle cartridge faucets look similar to compression faucets, but a cartridge faucet has smoother operation and doesn’t require extra pressure to shut it off. Cartridge faucets use a cartridge that seals to the faucet base with O-rings. They’re easy to repair and less susceptible to leaks.

Need a guide for picking the best faucet brand? The best choices will have established reputations for quality, selection and a strong warranty. They will also offer the looks that will fit your kitchen the best. Many manufacturers have raised the quality of faucets so there may not be much difference from brand to brand, but some companies put more of an emphasis on technology and design. If you value design more than fancy tech items like motion sensors or temperature settings, some brands will appeal more to you.

Long-running faucet companies tend to have a stronger reputation for reliability than newer companies but it’s best to investigate each company’s products before making a decision.  Faucets may have leaks  over time, and some companies respond better to replacing broken parts than others.

A luxury faucet can cost a small fortune, but it might be just what you need if you have a high-end kitchen or bathroom. However, if you’re looking for something functional with a strong design, there are many options available. Set a budget before shopping so you can find exactly what you want within a range you’re comfortable spending.

Most faucet companies offer a lifetime or a limited lifetime warranty, but it’s important to read the details to find out what each one will specifically cover. Faucet parts can wear out over time, and plumbers can be expensive.

If you value having a unique looking faucet, consider looking at the finish options. Oftentimes, there are only a few options: brass, stainless steel, chrome or bronze. But some manufacturers offer up to 33 different finishes, one of which will surely standout.

A good faucet starts with the material. No matter what type of faucet you are looking for, finding the right finish can come down to personal taste. The most common material options are as follows:

Chrome faucets are by far the most popular choice on the market. These durable and versatile pieces easily coordinate with several styles, colors and tones. Plus, they’re among the most affordable out there. Not to mention, chrome-finished faucets don’t typically chip and provide plenty of shine.

For those who prefer brushed and matte styles with a durable finish, nickel is a perfect choice. This highly resistant material maintains its look for years without requiring much maintenance.

Copper faucets are just as radiant as they are beautiful. While they can be shiny when new, they really begin to beautify when they’re aged and well used. Copper is sure to make an impact on your kitchen or bathroom.

Stainless steel is a classic. With its timeless design and clean appearance, it has been a popular choice of kitchen faucet since forever. An affordable choice, this material is highly durable and will last through many different trends in faucet design.

To determine the best overall faucet brands ranking, the Forbes Home Improvement editorial team analyzed third-party data on nearly 20 brands. Each product’s star rating is determined by evaluating a variety of metrics, including:

Customer rating for each faucet brand was evaluated over a variety of platforms and account for 25% of the total ranking.

The more handle options a faucet brand offered among its lines of faucets, the more points each brand got. This category accounts for a quarter of the total ranking.

Similarly to handle options, spout types of each brand were quantified and analyzed. Each brand gained or lost points based on how many spout types it offered.

Each faucet brand’s warranty policies were evaluated across every faucet, which gained or lost a brand points and makes up 15% of the ranking.

BBB rating indicates the overall health of a company, which is why it’s included as a category accounting for 10% of the ranking. The better the BBB rating, the more points a faucet brand received.

Moen, Delta, American Standard and Kohler all typically rank near the top as most reliable faucet brands, but with manufacturing advances many brands offer reliable faucets.

A new faucet installation is a great way to give your kitchen or bathroom a refreshed and upgraded look. The average cost for this project is  between $150 and $400 . A cheaper model can be purchased for as low as $50, while the most expensive units or jobs needing a plumber cost up to $4,000.

Sink faucets usually come in stainless steel, brass or zinc alloy, but the internal parts can include ceramic discs in the valve or plastic.

Many consider brass as the best faucet material, but some might prefer the look of stainless steel or other materials.
